Asset Management Strategy Development at SCK SEN

When thriving for improved efficiency and sustainability Asset Management is becoming more of a strategic requirement within Energy Industries. Therefore these industries are seeking to develop a Strategic Blue Print in order to manage and become Best in Class Asset Management practices.

Challenge

SCK requested the development of a future Asset Management Blue Print in order to realize the replacement of their BR2 nuclear reactor within the next decade.

The PDM’s asset management reference model was therefore used to accelerate the process during a number of workshops.

The strategic project deliverables

As within all strategic processes, the building blocks and deliverables are tangible such as an Applied Accelerator Model and a Main Asset Management Process Roadmap.

A Strategic Road Map to fill in the identified gaps but also improve intangibles such as commitment of the process owners to the next steps and project plans for implementation.

PDM’s approach resulted in acceptance of the designed roadmap and plans by the key players of the Asset Management organization of SCK CEN BR2, and a behavioral change and increased leadership of the management which resulted in top-management commitment and budget for starting the implementation of the roadmap.
