Mr. Benders worked for Oxirane / ARCO Chemical / Lyondell Chemical Company and LyondellBasell Industries between 1974 and 2008 (retirement).

 

He held various management positions in ARCO Chemical and Lyondell as Works Manager, Director of Manufacturing Europe, and Statutory Director of ARCO/Lyondell Chemie Nederland BV. During his period as Director Manufacturing Europe he supervised, as a specific add on to his responsibilities, a range of large capital investments in Europe for Lyondell (POSM-BDO-TDI).

 

In addition he was Board member in various associations in The Netherlands, such as VNO/NCW, the Dutch Employers association, VNCI, the Dutch Chemical Industry Association, Deltalinqs and Unified Industrial & Port Fire Department as Chairman of Supervisory Board.
